Strategy execution workshop: a few clear priorities, one team, momentum that lasts

Your strategy is clear – now it has to happen. In our strategy execution workshop your leadership team picks the three to five priorities that decide the year, gives each one an owner and sets up the rhythm that keeps them moving for the next 90 days and beyond.

When execution stalls

What a strategy execution workshop solves

Most strategies do not fail on paper. They fail in the months after the offsite, when daily business takes over again. These are the moments when a strategy execution workshop pays off.

When execution stalls
What the workshop does
SymptomToo many priorities, so nothing really moves
The team narrows a long list to the three to five priorities that decide the year and agrees what to stop. Result: focus that everyone can repeat in one sentence.
SymptomFunctions pull in different directions
Each priority gets one owner and a cross-functional team, so the leadership team wins together instead of defending its own area. Result: shared priorities across silos.
SymptomThe energy of the offsite fades after a few weeks
A monthly priority review, a visible scoreboard and 90-day OKRs turn intentions into a rhythm. Result: momentum that lasts beyond the workshop.
TriggerThe market shifts and change becomes urgent
A fast, honest look at reality and a short list of moves the company must win, decided in days rather than months. Result: a strategic reset the team stands behind.
TriggerA new CEO or leadership team needs traction
Shared priorities and quick, visible wins in the first 90 days build trust inside the team and across the company. Result: a strong start with one direction.

The process on one page

Focus in the workshop, momentum in the 90 days after

Six steps: three in the room, three in the weeks that follow. The workshop creates focus; the rhythm afterwards turns it into results.

Strategic reset

When you need a strategic reset

Sometimes the plan is not just slow, the world around it has changed. Then the workshop becomes a strategic reset: a fast, honest look at reality and a few priorities the company must win to stay ahead.

The market shifts

New competitors, new technology

Which of our assumptions no longer hold?

AI, new players or changing customer needs call for a different answer, quickly.

Reset: the few moves that secure your position.

Growth or margin under pressure

The numbers call for focus

Where do we put our limited resources now?

When budgets tighten, spreading effort thin is the most expensive option.

Reset: fewer priorities, more force behind each.

A new leadership team

Traction in the first 100 days

What do we want to be known for in a year?

A new CEO or a newly formed team needs shared priorities and early, visible wins.

Reset: one direction and quick wins that build trust.

In the room

The workshop

From an honest picture to a few priorities with owners
Start

Purpose, decision rights, ground rules

What must be decided today, who decides, and how the team works together.

Result: a clear contract for the workshop.

Focus

1 · Face reality

Results, customer signals, competitors and the initiatives already running go on the wall. Everyone writes first, then the team compares notes.

Result: one honest picture of where you stand.

Decide

2 · Pick the critical few

Options compete against clear criteria: impact, urgency, capability and effort. The team picks three to five priorities, never more, and names what it stops to make room.

Result: three to five critical priorities and a stop list.

Commit

3 · Commit the team

Each priority gets one owner, a cross-functional team and the resources it needs. A candid round checks whether every leader is really behind each one.

Result: owners, resources and real commitment.

Close

The first 30 days

First steps per priority, the message to the wider company and the date of the first monthly review.

Result: a start that happens the next day.

After the workshop

The 90-day cadence

From priorities to OKRs, reviews and results
Week 1

Kick-off with the teams

Owners take their priority to their teams and translate it into first actions.

Result: everyone knows what changes now.

Weeks 1–2

4 · Set 90-day OKRs

Each priority becomes one objective with measurable key results, drafted by the owners and sharpened together.

Result: company-level OKRs for the next 90 days.

Monthly

5 · Priority review

A focused leadership-team session per month: progress on the scoreboard, blockers, decisions. Short, factual, every month.

Result: issues are solved while they are still small.

Day 90

6 · Reset check

Keep, adjust or replace each priority, set the next OKRs and decide whether a new battle deserves a place on the list.

Result: the next cycle starts with fresh energy.

How we keep the momentum

Five habits that carry a strategy through the year

A workshop gives energy. These five habits keep it alive when daily business returns.

One owner per priority

Every priority has one name next to it, with the authority to act.

Stop before you start

A stop list frees the people and budget the priorities need.

A visible scoreboard

Progress on the key results is visible to the whole team, every week.

Monthly priority review

A short, factual session to clear blockers and take decisions.

Reset check at 90 days

Keep, adjust or replace each priority with fresh evidence.

Preparation

Well prepared, so the workshop starts with the real issues

What we do

  • Run a one-hour prep session with you and the people who decide
  • Collect where execution is stuck through a short pre-survey
  • Turn your numbers into a compact fact base for the workshop
  • Facilitate the workshop and capture every decision in the room
  • On request, facilitate the monthly reviews and the 90-day reset check

What we need from you

  • Your current strategy, plan or priorities, however rough
  • Key figures and the list of initiatives already running
  • About 20 minutes per leader for the pre-survey
  • A room with plenty of wall space or whiteboards
  • Clarity on who makes the final call when views differ

FAQ

Questions about the strategy execution workshop

What is a strategy execution workshop?

A facilitated session in which the leadership team turns its strategy into a few critical priorities with owners, resources and measurable results, and sets up the rhythm that keeps them moving afterwards.

How is it different from a strategic planning meeting?

Strategic planning decides where the company is heading. Strategy execution makes sure it actually gets there. If you still need to make the big choices first, see our strategic planning meeting facilitation.

When do we need a strategic reset?

When the market shifts, growth or margins come under pressure, or a new leadership team takes over. Then a fast, honest look at reality and a short list of critical priorities matter more than a long plan.

Why no more than five priorities?

Because a leadership team can keep only a handful of things moving at the same time. Every additional priority takes people, budget and attention away from the ones that matter most.

How do you keep the momentum after the workshop?

With one owner per priority, 90-day OKRs, a monthly priority review and a reset check after 90 days. We can facilitate the reviews or coach your team to run them. More on running OKRs in practice under OKR management.

Who should take part, and in which language?

The leadership team, usually five to ten people, including the person who makes the final call. We facilitate in English or German, on site across Europe.
